Onto round two of the TTS tournament! Dex has been running a great event and it’s just a ton of fun. I got paired into a great gentleman who’s Discord name is Kaiser. He is a returning player running some Dweghom stuff. Thankfully not the Arc Node Blast Master list. But a great in your face, melee heavy, pressure filled list.

Pregame
I had a lot of goals this game. Namely. Score more than 10 points. But also, have a much more effective deployment, play around the Fallen Divinity better and just have a smooth experience. My first game back with the Old Dominion was very choppy.
We were given Declined Flank as our scenario which always is a favorite of mine because it’s got a lot of zones and a fun mind game of denying scoring.

Looking at the list I was nervous, that is a lot of D4 bodies with fearless, not exactly what my list wants to see across the table. They are fast, they are going to be in my slow undead face, and scoring is going to be difficult. That being said, man, does his list not want to interact with a T3 Fallen Divinity. There is not enough evasion in those stumpy Dwegy bodies.
Early Game

Only one of my Kerykes wants to come play, I try to position it to cover a lot of the left side, I like what they do but I think when it comes to my play style I would like a light unit that is able to take more space on the board and charge/clash.

Round two is a lot more posturing, I do…a few damage with the Kerykes and the Karyatids set up on a great hill and are ready to shoot anything on the right side of the board.

Alrighty, the action is finally starting. I lose a Centaur unit to the Berzerkers on the left, the right side bounces off my statues. I am well and fully jailed sadly. His list is so fast and I need to start clawing my way out ASAP. Looking at the board I am quite happy because the Fallen Divinity is about to destroy the right side, but I honestly don’t have much of an answer for the Thanes on the left side.
Mid Game

My Kanephors and His Thanes continue to dance around each other, but his Thanes are scoring zones and my Kanephors are not. I know the Fallen Divinity is going to shut down the right side Eventually But dang, I am starting to fall behind in points drastically. The power of Legionaries mean that I am able to keep stealing zones from my opponent and keep myself in the game for just a little bit longer.

In a game saving move, his Kerawagh unit fails the charge into the Bone Golems and they are able to get into the Ironclad Drake. Leaving the whole left flank the unattractive option of “Fighting this Godlike Being”. The Fallen Divinity duels the Exemplar from the Dragonslayers for what feels like infinity (it was only twice but dang what a wild ability) and then she begins to chew through regiments.
Late Game

The Kanephors were going to charge into the flank of the Ironclad but the Thanes moved up to make that impossible. Fallen Divinity begins just…killing…EVERYTHING. The slap fight of Hold Warriors Vs. Legionaries continues. Kaiser is forced to charge things into the Fallen Divinity so that it isn’t able to sit on a zone.

There is very little more satisfying than a Fallen Divinity just wood chippering units. The Kanephors actually survive against the Thanes! Thanks to Blessed! They do a bit of damage and the Bone Golems set up to charge the flank. Kanephors are sadly starting to die to the Fallen Divinity aura. Legios win the slap fight and I am down 10 points. I am starting to score quite a bit more than the Dweghom though.

So here we go. A tie! A wild finish considering how far behind I was. The Hold Warriors ended up being the absolute heroes of the game. Between sitting and scoring the zones, and then charging the Bone Golems through terrain and killing enough to break them and deny me that zone for a round! Thankfully the hero Legio unit on the right lives on one wound after the charge.
Post Game Thoughts
Alrighty, what a wild game. Some key errors on my part, I feel that I was very lucky to squeak out a tie. Kaiser was an excellent opponent and played his list well. It was so fast and applied so much pressure it was a brutal uphill climb for me.
What I did well – I did much better with the list this game. I was much more aware of my win conditions and how to play around the Fallen Divinity power spikes.
What I could improve – I honestly think I need the Kerykes to go onto a zone and keep my opponents out of it until my Legios can sit there. I need to be on the zones when I am fighting my tarpit battles.
What my opponent did well – I loved his aggression. It is hard to stare down a gunline and just run at it but it was exactly the right call. He got onto zones and started scoring well. I think if that Kerawagh had made the charge and tied up the Bone Golems I absolutely wouldn’t have won. Like I said, he played a great game and I was lucky to tie!
Thanks again for reading! This week I get to battle the man, myth, and legend himself Dex! Keep your eye out for that report. Feel free to reach out with any comments or questions or simply just to talk shop!
