I’ve been writing about wargames for nearly 8 years as of this article, starting with a now long defunct blog called Druid’s Dice (it’s still there if you want to go look!) and then writing guest articles for a few other places before moving to create the original Line of Sight website with Chandler and Bret.
I played Warmachine competitively for the entire lifespan of mk3, and branched into Marvel: Crisis Protocol and Warhammer 40,000 in 2021.

As a school teacher, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about ways to make topics both more approachable and easier to remember. I try to write articles with a slant at learning something, and then teaching it as part of mastering. I write painting and hobby tutorials, record the occasional hobby video, and analyze games I’ve played in my limited free time to maximize my enjoyment and improvement of the games.

I am the proud father of three incredible children, and my wife and I are both learning how to fit our hobby time around their ever expanding lives. You’ll probably hear my wife’s incredible work as part of the musical portions of our new podcasts, and she is also a dynamite painter whose work I plan to feature heavily on the site as she lets me.
I actively play Warhammer 40,000 with Chaos Knights ready to play at a tournament level and other armies in various stages of painting. I also own the entire range of Marvel: Crisis Protocol figures, and every few months I blitz out paint jobs on a dozen of them at a time to catch up to my inevitable stalling point of “half the game painted”.

My role for Line of Sight is a combination of “scheduler” and “hobby guy”. As the one out of the whole team with the least opportunities for in person play, I won’t be doing huge analysis pieces on models, lists, or rules as often as I will be writing about painting, converting, and improving at the hobby side of things. I also will be the one handling the guest submissions and email accounts for the most part, so I look forward to hearing from you on that front.

Have some more pics!

As a closer, I’ve got some random questions from our discord and facebook page to answer:
- What do you drink while you paint?
Water! Other stuff makes paint brushes gross if you accidentally dip them into the wrong cup. - How often do you accidentally drink the paint water?
Basically never. Paint water goes on the far left, drinking water goes on the far right on top of a shelf. - What reptile best represents you?
This is a bit of a weird one, and I don’t know a ton of reptiles. Probably some kind of Tortoise. - Favorite pizza toppings?
Pepperoni and Pineapple. I understand this will lose us readers and viewers, but I freaking love it. - Do you have any dice superstitions?
Not really. I try to buy dice I know are as random as possible and that really helps. For 40k I’ve got some Aeldari, T’au, and Knight dice that I use for Psychic, Shooting, and Fighting respectively – that’s as close as I get. - Favorite traditional card game?
Omaha. Once I discovered it I couldn’t go back to Hold ‘Em. - Who influenced you most in your wargaming career?
My Dad. He taught me to play Magic when I was five and spent the first few years teaching me that Green can’t beat Blue. This has dramatically messed with my outlook on games, and the rest is history.
If you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading! I’m looking forward to lots of conversations about all kinds of games as we move into the next exciting chapter of Line of Sight. Until next time!
