Hobby Streak Day 3, Rider and Freehanding

Hobby streak day 3 was interesting. I spent a huge portion of the time I was “working” trying to figure out a harmonious, while still fairly muted, color scheme for the Shroud Runner rider.

I actually think I’m going to use portions of this for future models, I really like the burnt orange color I got on the gun and I will probably use it for Fire Dragons soon.

You can also see the freehanded Ranger symbol on the chestplate there. I did this in sub assemblies so I could reach that more easily. I still need to paint the boots and the blueish gun portions…and I guess the orange gems as well.

Here’s some more freehanding I did on the sleeves. These symbols are for Rangers, infiltration, and being unseen (according to an online database I went and looked at).

One other thing I did was started trying out some brush control exercises. I don’t think I love some of these as general exercises, so I’m going to keep looking, but I haven’t been happy with my brush control in general lately so this is an area I’m looking to improve.

I might get some intricate linework and print it in greyscale and then “trace” it next time. We’ll see.

Tonight, I’m hoping to get the shroud runner completely finished and do the prep work to start painting a couple of Gladiator Lancers in my aurora wolves scheme. I’ve found a couple new Space Wolves builds I think I like and I might try taking one to an RTT in a couple weeks.

Thanks for reading, see you next time!
